Obaro of Kabba is dead

A foremost traditional ruler in Kogi State and chairman Okun area traditional council, Obaro of Kabba, Oba Michael Folorunsho Olobayo, the Obaro Ero II, is dead.

The Obadofin of Oweland, Oba Michael Yusuf who is traditionally the second in command to the Obaro made the announcement over the weekend.

The Obaro was said to have died after a protracted illness. He was aged 71 and spent 30 years seven months on the throne, haven ascended the throne pn October 17th, 1985.

The late monarch last year marked his seventieth birthday and thirtieth year on the throne, a ceremony which drew the creme de la creme to the ancient town.

Olobayo was a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he studied history.

He was one time district officer and rose to the pinnacle of civil service before being crowned as the Obaro of Kabba.

The paramount ruler died at the age of 71.
