Police in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka had allowed the traditional slaughter to take place in certain designated areas of the city. However heavy downpours made many of the spots impossible to use.
The blood from the slaughtered liverstock, killed by Muslims to mark Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, mixed with the flood water can be seen in these dramatic pictures.
During the celebration, goats, sheep and cows were killed to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim's test of faith. More photos...
