A 64-year-old man has admitted murdering a teenage girl 32 years ago - after he was tracked down utilizing his daughter's DNA.
Christopher Hampton pleaded censurable to murdering 17-year-old Melanie Road in Bath, Somerset during the early hours of June 9, 1984.
It is understood he has led a plenarily mundane life since he stabbed the teenager to death three decades ago, setting himself up as a painter decorator and starting a family.
He was determinately caught after his daughter got a caution for malefactor damage in 2014 and her DNA was routinely taken.
When her details were integrated to a national database, a 'familial match' to DNA found on Miss Road's body and attire was flagged up to cold-case detectives and Hampton was apprehended.
