Man Calls 9-1-1, Tells Dispatchers He Killed His Girlfriend, Flees

A man is in police custody after making a chilling 9-1-1 call that led police to a grisly discovery inside a home in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood overnight. The 9-1-1 call came in about 2:30 a.m. Monday, when police say the man told emergency dispatchers that he had just strangled his girlfriend in a house on Rorer Street near Willard.

Officers responded to the home a short time later and found a woman dead inside, police said. Four children under the age of 12 were asleep in the house at the time, but the man was nowhere to be found. Detectives began pinging the man's cellphone to track him and managed to get him on the phone shortly before 4 a.m., police said. He initially left the area, traveling south into Delaware, police said, but returned a short time later.
