Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s convoy was caught in a rigorous gridlock like every other motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway yesterday morning caused by a contingency that claimed the lives of three persons.
Apart from the three reported dead persons, three other persons were solemnly injured in the contingency that occurred at the Lotto Junction, Mowe, along the Lagos - Ibadan Expressway.
An ocular perceiver witness told Vanguard that a tanker laden with fuel travelling to Ibadan had run into a herd of cow Monday afternoon, killing four of them instantly, causing the truck to veer off its course as it spilled some of its content onto to the road.
It was amassed that the owner of the truck brought another tanker and transferred the product into it in preparation for onward kineticism to its final destination.
“Around 11pm, a conveyance, towing another conveyance without tyres and the rims having direct contact with the road, was passing by.
It was the spark from the rims’ contact with the asphalted road that led to a spark which resulted into an immensely colossal fire that consumed the tanker, fire fighting truck and three persons. Three others were injured, including one of the fire fighters, who were keeping vigil to avert fire outbreak at the scene.”
A source told our correspondent that three persons believed to be men of fire accommodation from the Ogun State Fire Accommodation to the scene were consumed by the fire.
