Married Subukia chief commits suicide after differing with secret lover.

A 51-year-old chief committed suicide on Friday evening after allegedly disagreeing with his secret lover over money.

It is alleged that Joseph Waweru Njuguna, a father of seven, committed suicide by hanging himself with a piece of rope in his bedroom after being frustrated by his estranged new lover.

According to family members Chief Njuguna, who was the assistant chief in Milimani, Subukia sub-county, spent an entire week with his secret lover before going back home.

Speaking to The Standard at their home, Joyce Wanjiku, the former chief’s widow, said her husband returned home on Wednesday and informed her that he had disagreed with a woman over money.

“My husband revealed to me his frustrations with a woman he was having an affair with.

The woman had asked him for Sh6,000. On Friday morning, the woman kept calling asking for the money and warned him against going for his official uniform from her home,” she said.
